Who’s undermining marriage?



The same sex marriage bill is still to go to its report stage but when it passed the second stage in parliament, I for one was very disappointed. While parliament may accept same sex marriage, the biggest religious groups in the UK, including Christians, Muslims and Jews all opposed it. So why is it such a big issue and why do I as a Christian feel saddened that the British government thinks that this is a good idea?

Marriage in British law is based on a religious (Judeo-Christian) understanding. It is the union of one man with one woman as detailed in Genesis 2:24 “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife and they shall become one flesh” (the joining of the flesh referring to sex not just a ceremony) and again in Ephesians 5:31.
